EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories so they feel less intense and less present in daily life. Guided bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, is used during reprocessing.

EMDR is used for a single distressing event as well as for cumulative stress and lingering memories. Sessions begin with an assessment and preparation, then move into reprocessing, with grounding and coping strategies built in throughout.

EMDR may help with: unwanted memories, strong reactions to triggers, sleep difficulty, avoidance, self-doubt and feeling overwhelmed by change.

EMDR sessions are offered in person and virtually across Ontario, with daytime, evening and weekend options. Book a free 15-minute consultation to talk about EMDR with one of our therapists.
