Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD

Obsessive-compulsive disorder often hides in plain sight. Intrusive thoughts, mental rituals, checking and reassurance-seeking can take up hours of each day. Exposure and Response Prevention is a structured form of CBT and is one of the most widely researched treatments for OCD.

In ERP, you and your therapist map your specific obsessions and compulsions, build a ranked list of feared situations, and practise facing them while gradually reducing the compulsions that keep the cycle going. The pace is set collaboratively.

ERP can help with: contamination and cleaning, checking, unwanted intrusive thoughts, relationship doubt, moral or religious scrupulosity, symmetry and "just right" feelings, mental compulsions, and health anxiety.

Sessions are offered in person or virtually across Ontario. Book a free 15-minute consultation to talk about whether ERP is a good fit.
